This may have been my favorite natural wonder of the trip so far. We stopped in the unbelievable City of Rocks National Reserve. It has been preserved quite well and is very off the beaten path which made it nearly deserted and that much more explorable. Some of the rocks here (that literally touch) are 2.5 billion years old next to 25 million years old. Some of the oldest rocks in the country are here. We drove around at first (the Cruze got filthy but handled those offroads with ease) then did a 5 mile hike (EP was cold and seemed a bit grumpy later on). The wind was howling, even with all our cold weather gear, it was still chilly. In the evening, back at the RV, Sasha and I went out for her evening walk. It was frigidly cold, darker than midnight, and so quiet I could hear the entire forest. We heard something in the forest outside the trailer so I said "hello" and got no response, by this time Sasha was clawing at the door desperate to get back inside. I thought she had the right idea and booked it back to the RV myself. I don't know what we heard but the next morning we found snow on the ground so a pleasant way to end the day.

Our October 8th Hike was quite warm

I don't think she can pull that

It was a magical hike (notice EP's gloves)
