Leg 33- Oct 3- Owyhee County, ID

Baby in the desert
Our friend Arron recommended we stop off at Bruneau Dunes State Park.  Dallas and I boogied out that way thinking to ourselves "but we've seen other sand dunes"...we were wrong.    First off, the dunes are in a natural 3 sided bowl of a canyon (which is very pretty at sunset).  Next, the size of the dunes is un-capturable in a photo.  They are super steep, and dizzingly high.  We started out on the close dune that doesn't seem that high (but was close to the parking area).  She chased children in the sand, we all jumped down the hill, and it was a ball.  Later on the day, Sasha, EP and I tried to climb the larger dune (that is 470 feet TALL).  Sasha complete ran out of energy before we made it and EP fell asleep.  We made it to the first knuckle of the sand dune before Sasha completely collapsed and EP started to get super scared.  The steepness was bewildering and so daunting.  I looked around before making the call that it was 10,000 percent too dangerous to take a baby any farther.  We turned back.  That night we basked in a desert sunset while eating dinner.
