Leg 9- May 10- Burlington, IA
After battling a number of items breaking or becoming non functional, we finally lost propane gas the evening of May 9th. We have a tiny electric heater and the night was not too cold or else we would have been all hiding under blankets. But the propane also gives us hot water and allows us to cook. We couldn't really go long without it. I figured out it was either the 2 stage propane regulator or the safety interlock solenoid. The first place that had the part we needed was Menards in Burlington, Iowa. Of note, Menard's is absurdly large and Burlington looks like an awesome little city! In their parking lot, I got a lot of stares as I took the propane system apart and put it back together. But the gas is on! As the day went on, we developed a chime coming out of the dash which drove me insane before 10 miles had elapsed. We arranged to stay with my cousins in a nearby town (next post) and dropped the Bounder off in a repair place in Muscatine, Iowa. I will update again once we find out what the chime is.
