Leg 50- Nov 2- Kayenta, AZ

We left Aunt Marlene and Uncle Walt to return to the Bounder.  It was right where we had left it so we hurried for a quick hike at the park (which we didn't really know a bunch about).  It was a short 1 mile hike (which the altitude continued to kick our butt).  We all of a sudden came to an overlook of Betatakin Cliff Dwellings.  First off, the structure and how intact it is, is mindblowing.  Next, we met a Navajo man and woman who were looking at the home of their ancestors.  They gave us further prospective and extra thoughts on the entire culture of how they remember (and how the government has continually been cruel to them over and over).  Rough.

Afterwards, Dallas set up the tent for our first campout.  EP LOOOVVVEEDDD the tent where she went to bed at what seemed like an early hour but it was just dark so our bodies got sleepy.  Sasha, Dallas and I joined her for bedtime where we all slept in 33 degree weather.  I had to put Sasha in my sleeping bag, EP flopped all over, and Dallas's sleeping pad kept deflating.  It was harder night but I think we are all glad we did it.
